About Daddy P

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DADDY P

I started my musical journey in the late 70’s listening to The Specials, The Selecter and 2 Tone until my eyes and ears where opened when a neighbour called Curtis gave me a box of 7” singles and said “Boy hear the originals now” Curtis used to throw regular Blues dances at his yard and I would climb out of my bedroom window and sneak over to those sessions regularly without my parents knowing, from the day he gave me those singles I never looked back. I moved to Brighton where along with Drunken Master started a small party sound called Messenger, holding frequent Blues Dances all over the city & regular MC's & Singers like MC Trooper, Ruben Da Silva, Ragga Dan, Daddy IP and many others would rock the mic till the early hours. I also used to guest on Killa Riddim Sound System at the Volks Tavern, other sound systems that I guested on included King Ta Far I & Big Thrust (R.I.P DJ Sinner) sound systems, as well as played for regular night Roots Garden in Ship Street playing mainly Studio One roots selections . I took a break from DJing when I moved to Tamworth and concentrated on collecting & attending dances in Birmingham (Love Injection, The Dub Club, Jam Jah Sound, Coxsone Lounge, Birmingham Dub Club & The Dub Fraternity) as well as attending regular gig's & shows in the city. Then an opportunity came up in 2017 to buy Killa Riddim sound system so I hastily paid and collected it,  upgraded the control tower and took it around locally playing small dances, events and was due to compete in the Winna Stays On sound clash put on by The Dub Fraternity, sadly due to the lockdown the whole thing has been put on hold so I was invited to do a weekly radio show for a local community station which helped me stay focused in these difficult times but I needed to push myself further and set myself higher goals so I asked if it would be possible to join the team at Chaaawaaa and here I am!
